Lilli sees things no one else does.
Desperate to make sense of the dreams and visions that have plagued her since childhood, Lilli confides in Devin, her closest friend, and the boy she’s fallen for.

Instead of questioning her sanity, Devin confesses to secrets of his own, which are far darker. His revelations about magic, witches and demons stun Lilli. But it’s what he knows about Lilli’s mother, long believed to be dead, that leaves her feeling betrayed. Despite her anger, Lilli will have to learn to trust Devin again, because he is the only one who can protect her from a dark danger that’s coming for her from a world away.

When did you start writing?

Christmas 2012. I’ll never forget it. I sat down at my computer determined to write a story that I could proudly share with the world.

What makes you want to write?

I LOVE books. If book reading ever became a career option that’s what I’d do for a living. After reading so much I started imaging all these stories in my head. After a while the urge to put them into writing became too hard to ignore.

Do you ever get writer's block and what do you do to get over it?

I don’t get writer’s block in the sense that I can’t think of things to write about. What does happen to me is that often I’ll sit down and write a chapter and then have a hard time figuring out how to transition to the next scene in the book. I worry about including too much or too little detail.

Do you have a special way of going about writing?

I have three kids and also a day job so I pretty much sneak writing time in whenever I can. It’s not easy. After putting in a 10+ hour shift in the ER, my energy is pretty much sapped.

Do you have any works in progress?

Yes! I have a Kindle Worlds novella coming out in July. I’m also working on a sequel to my first book, Back to Us, which is a NA contemporary romance. In addition, I just received the first round of edits back on a YA paranormal book tentatively titled Legacy about a shapeshifter who desperately longs for what she considers a normal life.

What are your hobbies?

I love baking. From time to time I’ll post recipes of my favorite goodies to my blog. I’m sort of a beginning gardener as well and really enjoy traveling. Because of time and monetary constraints my traveling consists of local road trips, but I’m fortunate to live in Northern California where you can pretty much never run out of things to do and places to see.

Who is your favourite character in Daughter of Magic?

My main character, Lilli. She’s got a beautiful soul.

How did you get the idea for Daughter of Magic?

Some of it came from one of my all-time favorite TV shows, Charmed. The rest came from characters I cooked up in my head. I wouldn’t say Lilli is just like me when I was her age, but there are some similarities. I also really like the idea of a male love interest who is actually a good guy so I created one for Daughter of Magic.
What was your favourite part of writing Daughter of Magic?
Imaging the scenes in my head as I put them down on paper, was almost like a movie playing in my head. I loved “watching” my scenes unfold.

What are you currently reading?

I literally just finished reading Justice Calling by Annie Bellet a few hours ago and loved it.

What is your favourite book?

Me Before You. Cried like a baby, but boy was that a good book. I’m also a huge fan of Kresley Cole’s Arcana Chronicles.

Who is your favourite author?

Jessica Shea Spotswood. I like her books, but she also seems like a nice person and someone I’d have fun hanging out with.

What is your favourite film?

Monster’s Ball with Halle Berry. It was gut-wrenching, but I really like the way it covered such a wide range of issues.

What is your favourite TV show?

Currently it’s Lucifer.

Quick-fire questions:

Chocolate or ice cream? Ice cream.
Paperback or ebook? ebook.
Dogs or cats? Dogs.
Go out or stay in? Go out.
Summer or winter? Summer.
